Help:Quick Start Guide
From OrgasmWiki
So you've logged in - Congratulations!
How to get around.
Website Format
1. The basic format of Wiki - and OrgasmWiki in particular is:
- It is a series of pairs of pages; One on a particular subject, with a discussion page behind it. (sort of backroom stuff).
- Hypertext links pages together by clickable emphasised words as used on most web pages.
- For example, A page could be:
- a User profile and the discussion page behind it is a blog ( in Wiki, called User Talk..)
- A page could be on KSMO with a discussion page
- A page could be on wiki technicalities with a discussion page.
2. There are two principal pages with content at the moment:
- MAIN PAGE - this gives some examples of ideas that have been attempted so far and the discussion page is full of ideas coming to fruition.
- RECENT CHANGES - For me, this is the equivalent page to the 'NEWS' page of the ccwerks forum. You can see and access which documents have been accessed recently by others. You can also see profiles of the people making those changes.
3. There are other pages linked with the two PRINCIPAL pages.
Look out for:
On the MAIN PAGE, look out for some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ.) Here, others and myself have started to ask questions that might be asked by forum members. We have also made some links to new pairs of pages about KSMO and OrgasmWiki.
Here's one (of several convenient ways available) to see where the action is, in terms of page name (an active link) and page size:
Where to practice? In the Sandbox!
If it helps, * you cannot screw anything up* just by looking :-)
Then, later, when you feel confident, you can add stuff to the pages and eventually create new pairs of pages.
Firstly though, practise in the sand box. Give yourself permission to mess it up here! You are allowed to do so in this particular space ! :-D
What to do next
As you may know, now that you've signed in, you already have your own pair of pages. In these, you can write a new profile, or, simply cut and paste your old ccwerks profile into this, your User page, and old forum posts (and replies) into your own discussion page.
Where are these pages?
Click on your user name at the top of the page for your profile and click on my talk for your discussion page for blogging.
Further information about your user page and my talk can be found on the OrgasmWiki FAQ on the Main Page.
