In a recent chat session, Lopez raised a very important question (as he often does!):
He was making a good joke about demonstrating the Key Sound(tm) on Oprah, and I thought I would take the opportunity to respond to the issue, since it is often raised in a serious context. Here's the response I posted in the ChatBox to the issue that Lopez aptly raised, some further elaboration: Lopez re: doing the sound on TV or radio. I don't believe that it is ethical to do so. Although people may treat its use in a humorous manner (and understandably so, as it may trigger feelings of awkwardness or anxiety since it is so intimately and directly connected to our deeper multiorgasmic response), using the Key Sound is not trivial, and it is itself not a joke - since it triggers ultimately *very* powerful sensations in a person even when they hear it. These feelings are often specifically erotic. If you do the sound through mass media, you have no idea of the impact it may have on someone, especially someone who may be a survivor of sexual abuse, or if they are driving their car, etc. Likewise, although practicing while in a car may seem private enough - but in fact the Echo Effects, and even just the concentration on articulating the Key Sound correctly, can be very distracting! In fact, in one instance (thank goodness only one!) a Forum member several years ago reported having practiced the Key Sound(tm) while driving (not with my agreement, and without checking with me about it!) and became so distracted by what he was feeling and his concentration on correct articulation that he momentarily lost control of his car and drove off the road, having a blow out in the process! A first tendency may be to laugh about such an incident, and that's understandable, as laughter is often a way of releasing anxiety. But it was no joke at all! Thank goodness neither he nor anyone else was hurt, and other than the tire blowout, his car was not damaged! RE: This issue of practicing or demonstrating the Key Sound in public - other than in a workshop designed specifically for the purpose of learning to awaken these kinds of deeper erotic responses, or in my one-to-one phone coaching - does not qualify under the essential ethical guideline for all sexual activity, that is informed mutual consent. All three of those words have a very important and serious meaning. Thanks again, Lopez, for mentioning this very important issue! Best to all, Jack |

Wow I did not know that things of this nature could occur. But it is not that suprising considering how the keysound can evoke such strong sexual responses in us when we practice it. It reminds me of some old chat transcript where Jack was talking about how powerful the sexual force and mantras can be. He was talknig about how in the movie "shadowman" one character used some destructive aspect of the sexual force or some kind of mantra in order to shatter a pane of glass???? or something to that effect. Certainly he was not using the keysound here. |
