Here's a copy of the current specs I've written for vbmtor to implement, please add YOUR suggestions for Blog usability to this thread - Thanks!

There's a LOT of work to be done here!

Please think of seeing the blogs area from the point of view of a brand new user for whom NOTHING is obvious unless it's clearly spelled out.

Here's an example for you to do, please, when you have time:

1. Please add a BUTTON that appears at the bottom of each post in a blog, be it an entry by the blogger, OR a comment, and
2. For now, ELIMINATE the step where they go to a separate page called blog_subscription.php?do=subscribe&u=[nnnn], instead...
3. (probably in part by embedding the code from Step 2 plus the user=value in the call)When a user's status vis a vis that blog is UNsubscribed, have the subscribe button say Subscribe with a mouseover popup that says Click this button to receive notification of new posts to [username]'s blog via email, and
4. When that user's status via a vis that blog is Subscribed, have that same button say UNsubscribe with a mouseover popup that says Click this button to STOP receiving new posts to [username]'s blog via email

And in a subsequent post to vbmtor:

For each of these kinds of tags, please include the word usability followed by the particular function (in this case: mouseover) to give yourself the option to also code an option for the user to turn off ALL usability prompt functions as they become expert. so that later you will be able to provide (perhaps in the User CP) a number of usability prompting functions that are defaulted to ON but that can switched OFF by users as they become more experienced and no longer need that help.
When a user clicks the Blogs link - blogs.php -

1. Please reduce the white space between the topmost box containing the navbar links and the ChatBox box
2. Between the heading: Blogs From The Members of Last longer in bed using the Multiple Orgasm Trigger™ and Random featured blog entry from [username], Please put a button that says List All Bloggers that calls ../blogs/all with mouseover text that says Display list of all bloggers with links to their blogs
3. In the line that says:
   
   Posted [nn]th [Month] [YYYY] at [nn:nn] by [username link]
   
   ...please attach mouseover text to username link that says Click to display first few lines posted for each of [username]'s blog topics
4. Make the Comments link bold and underlined, and at mouseover turn it read and display mouseover text Click to display Comments/Replies to this post made by other users
5. For the author of a blog, please set email subscription flag default to subscribed, but of course give them a way to UNsubscribe if they prefer.
6. On the line just above that where the user's blog entry title is a link, please add mouseover text that says Click to display [username]'s entire blog post
7. On the username link appearing in the light brown area to the right of the blog post content box, attach mouseover text: View and select options for [username]'s blog posts.

I guess being a visual learner -- need to "See" the changes , then I can make suggestions from there.
