Wow, that's interesting Jack. I can't believe that there's only one bridge between Joomla and VB. Man someone at Joomla or VB fell short on that one. I'll do some checking myself and see if I can find anything, although I'm sure you and the vb moderator have banged your head against a wall long enough trying to find the answer.

Believe me, I felt the same way!

There's a lot of BUZZ about the JFusion bridge though. So I'd like to give it a fair shake before switching horses to a third option.

By all means though... post what you find out, if anything. BBpixel was sure a bust! Over 40 hours of labor trying to get it to work and NADA!

Anyway, onward! Thanks for all of your support in making this SIGNIFICANT improvement to the site!

All the best,
Jack

Sorry to hear this Jack. As they say trial and error eh??

But a company called JFusion has been creating a bridge that has a vBulletin version due out in beta on Dec 25.

So we're in hurry up and wait mode.
As they say, one door doesn't close but another door/opportunity arises. k-- more gold nuggets seem to come to mind - lol...patience is a virtue?? Lord above sure waved his wand over you for that one .

Meanwhile, in addition to Joomla Templates Club - Pro Joomla Templates & Designs - Joomla templates, which you should browse and identify the one(s) you like, also check out YOOtheme - Web 2.0 Joomla Templates and https://www.joomlart.com/ including one I find kinda cool: https://www.joomlart.com/forums/showthread.php?p=91586
I did get a chance to check each of these links and I agree I LOVE LOVE the last one , it seems to be the best as I picture how the layout of the Forum would look in that template .

Quote:
The point is, as I understand it, that the content from the Forum can be piped to any number of templates fairly easily.

This means that people who prefer just a few items on their page at a time, and have their favorites can just draw those from the vbulletin database and view them via a joomla template in an arrangement, color scheme, etc. that is of your liking.
That is what first got my attention/approval about Joomla in the first place- the versatility and ability to set it up with individual preferences .

Quote:
And you like a higher-density presentation of options and content doorways you can likewise view our site through such a panel or window.

I'm not yet clear how much server load (i.e. degradation of response time) results from different users viewing different templates at the same time but our ISP has pretty hefty capacity available and so far (about 4 years) their support has been superb (knock knock knock).
As I read this the first thing that came to mind is when we converted over to OrgasmWiki site a few years ago-- and the "breakdowns" that occurred then and learning from those on what needed to be adjusted or fixed.

Meanwhile, between KSMO practice sessions, I hope you'll browse those template sites and any other Joomla template sites that interest you. You can just Google - or whatever search engine you prefer - let me know which, btw!

You can post in reply to this thread, please re: which search engines you like to use.

my vote definately!!!!

Do you happen to have a fax machine? I'd love to know what kind of content from the Forum you'd like to see in each of the boxes in that template, and also, what color.

If no access to fax, you can just snail mail the sketch to me.

Thanks Laly, very much appreciated!

I'll be posting a status report to this thread a little later today, re: where the developers are in getting all of the bugs out of the latest release of the JFusion bridge that will dynamically connect our Forum content to the Joomla! templates.

Thanks again for your comments!

RE: Template colors

i love the blue one...but also the purple really keeps catching my eye. The blue I think --- the text to me would seem to be more easily read ...

OK, great! I believe that once we get the template installed - it will be one of several that users can choose from - with Canuck75's layout being another option.

It's my understanding that once the template you like is installed and running, when you log in, you'll be able to change the color choice any time you want, with the click of a menu choice!

Hey All,

Jack asked me if I'd post an update concerning the upgrade of the website and forum. Basically, to make a long story short, we are waiting for JFusion version 1.1.2 Beta to be completed so that development can move forward. The 1.1.2 Beta version looks to be around 77% complete with 41 tickets/ errors fixed and closed and 12 more still outstanding. That's the status right now but I'm not sure when the debugging phase will come to an end or if they will find more bugs to fix. As Jack said, "hurry up and wait." I'm just glad I'm not a programmer. LOL

Well it looks like we're moving ever closer and closer to seeing JFusion 1.1.2 completed. I just checked their site and thought I'd give everyone an update. JFusion is now 85% complete with a posted due date of April 13, 2009. Can't wait until then!
