QUESTIONS FOR OUR COMMUNITY - HOW ABOUT JOOMLA CONTENT MGMT SYSTEM?

Currently, I am waiting to hear from vbmtor as to when he will be available to make our first attempt at installing Joomla and JFusion.

I'm hoping it will be this coming Wednesday.

I'm still investigating doing a trial installation on a test server to make sure we've got all of the plugins (of which there are many!) working correctly, including those that convert all of the Joomla-generated links to Search Engine Friendly links, without screwing up the current SE-Friendly links for vBulletin as already functioning.

If you are techie oriented, and especially if you already have any experience with Joomla, we'd really appreciate your assistance in bringing this behemoth on line.

For the moment re: Joomla, "that's all the fits that's news to print!".

vbmtor no longer has access to the testing server, apparently.

At present it appears that vbmtor will be available for the Joomla installation on Wednesday April 29 at 1700GMT.

Barring any further changes or miscommunications, I will therefore close the Forum at that time, and it may be closed for two to three hours, and hopefully everything will go reasonably smoothly.

Getting this done has been quite a seesaw.

Joomla is now installed, and volunteers are needed to help with the setup and administration, as well as serving as Editors and Article writers.

Here's a start: Please locate a free online instructional video that demonstrates how to use the Joomla 1.5 interface to install a template... and MULTIPLE templates - I think the key word I've seen is that templates are alternatively called layouts.

Then with my help perhaps you could install the template / layout you like.

I'm gonna ask Canuck75 if he's willing to install the modified Versatility IV (by RocketTheme) that he suggested.

For the record, I already have memberships to two templates clubs, one is RocketTheme and the other is for the Layout that you like (it's a different club... I think it's mentioned earlier in this thread - perhaps you could locate that name in this thread and post it as a reply here to bring it to the top of this thread.

PS: Who else is willing to help? All help will be appreciated, and the beauty of Joomla is that being an Editor or an Author does not require much technical experience at all, since Joomla is form-based entry of content into the template webpages.

Joomla is now loaded. Would you be willing to load Versatility IV and tweak it the way you recommended?

I'm also curious to know if you can locate the steps for creating a Layouts tab that allows a visitor to select other templates (Laly for example, favors a different on).

I believe I posted a link about this multiple layouts feature in the Forum's Joomla thread.

Please let me know if you're still interested and willing to help out, and I'll give you the rights and further details.

BTW I bot a years membership to RocketTheme so that makes Versatility IV
plus the rest of their Library available to us.
