Things I'm continuing to discover...
I've moved to Taiwan and am continuing my Qi Kung practice here while teaching English.
Reich believed that the human body was designed to be in a constant expansion and contraction cycle. As I experience more groundedness and develope the connections in my fascial system more deeply, I tend to agree.
Does anyone remember Jack talking about starting a KS with your chin against your chest, and rolling your head back throughout the sound until you're, like, howling at the moon? :-). Actually, the outbreath at the point looks a bit like the Cocapelli flute player symbol. That's an exagerated version of Reich's breathing method. Back arched at the inbreath, cocapelli flute player at the outbreath. I've done a lot of experimenting with reician breathing, and I'll say that it's a very effective form of multiple orgasmic breathing as well (if so exaggerated, and can be done sitting or laying down -- feels nice).
The Qi Kung teacher's I've had have helped me relax and build connections. Actually, a good teacher might even calibrate where my Qi kung is at by looking at back and forth rocking (like the whole body saying YES -- again, imagine that breathing motion I described above). When the body isn't ready to process a particular energy, or when flow tries to pass through tense spots, I'll often get more side to side movement (really, like the body is saying NO). So then I relax more, notice where I'm holding, ground further (this is a Qi Kung process of refinement -- pushing hands is achieved by being able to literally sink the weight, down into the ground deep, and relax so the whole body connects to the ground. I also like to use a similar method for shooting pistols or archery).
I go through phases where I use different methods for multi-orgasmic breathing, though I had KSMO for years before I learned any other good way. Lately I've been doing KSMO a lot. It helps me to notice some tricky spots in the pelvic floor. There are soooooooooooooooooo many muscle crossings there, and it seems like if I get the right little feeling, the right little twist, then the multiple. orgasms. just. flow... very neat. The body is so cool and there is so much to explore. Part of this kind of Kung Fu I think is finding the right chunk size to explore, the right scale, the right level of detail. Relaxed is not limp -- and ease is not necessarily easy to achieve.
One thing we say in Wujifa Qi Kung: "The method is not the truth, once you get the feeling, get rid of the method." So anything I've referenced above should be taken that way. I believe there's a time to explore and learn details and depth, and a time to go with a solid feeling that's been developed over time (Kung Fu).
