Andrea, feel free to alter your position however you need to in order to feel comfortable and relaxed.
Change your position whenever there is fatigue, discomfort, or tension.
And limit your practice sessions to no more than thrice weekly, for no more than about 20 minutes.
Remember the important thing is to do the practice for 20 minutes with as much relaxation as possible, and don't expect or try to make anything in particular happen during that time.
You may or may not notice Echo Effects during the early sessions, although you are describing some, apparently.
The strongest effects typically happen after practice or even on the days between practice session.
